Police Dept.

Ordinance No.133-An Ordinance creating a Police Department and fixing the Compensation and Conditions of Employment of members thereof. Approved 23rd Day of January 1939

Ordinance No.215- An Ordinance of the Borough of Heidelberg, Alleghany County, Pennsylvania, authorizing and providing for a Borough Policeman, and providing for a salary to be paid for the same.  Approved 7th Day of April 1947

Ordinance No.229- An Ordinance of the Borough of Heidelberg, Alleghany County, Pennsylvania, Repealing Ordinance No.215 Providing for the establishment of  police Department and fixing the Salary. Examined and approved the 13th day of February 1950

Ordinance No.269- An Ordinance establishing a Police Department in and for the Borough of Heidelberg, Alleghany County, Pennsylvania. Examined and approved the 13th day of June 1962

 

Fire Dept.

The Heidelberg Volunteer  Fire Department was originally located in the borough building on Railroad Street. In May of 1971, a ground breaking ceremony was held on first street for the opening of the present fire department. The fire department is a complete firefighting and ambulance service organization. The members include trained firemen, emergency medical technicians, and paramedics in training. The new building cost the neighborhood $101,000. The president of the Fire Department was Raymond McDonald.  The fire chrif was Henry James Wissel.

Ladies Auxiliary

The Ladies Auxiliary was organized around the year 1928 for the purpose of assisting in the advancement of the fire department. According to the Auxiliary raises finds for the purchase of equipment for the fire department.
